Best Roofers in Boise: 8 Local Companies Compared (2026)

Our criteria are simple: only facts a company publishes about itself, on its own site, that you can check. Cities served, materials offered, Idaho contractor registration number, and how long it says it has been in business.

We did not collect star ratings, so there is no ranking here and nothing on this page is "top rated." Where a company's own claims contradict each other, we say so instead of smoothing it over.

Nobody paid to be listed. If we add a paid Featured slot later, it will be labeled Featured.

One thing to know before you read the table. Idaho registers contractors; it does not license them. DOPL's contractors FAQ spells out that registration carries no exam, no education requirement, and no experience requirement behind it, which means a registration number tells you the paperwork got done. It is a floor, not a quality score.

Every cell is what the company says about itself. The three registration numbers are self-reported, so verify each one at DOPL's search before you hire anybody.

Nothing below is ranked. These groupings are here to shorten your call list before you start dialing.

• Metal roof: seven of the eight list metal. Idaho Roofing Contractors is the exception, publishing asphalt, flat, new construction, and storm damage restoration.
• Flat or commercial: All County Roofing publishes a commercial and flat-roof focus plus inspections and certifications. Signature, Intermountain, Ridge Crest, Rebel, and E & H also list flat systems.
• Widest published coverage: Rebel Roofing (14 cities) and Intermountain Roofing (13-plus across Ada and Canyon Counties).
• Caldwell or Kuna: All County Roofing's published area leaves both cities out. The other seven list both.
• Tile, slate, or shake: Signature lists tile, slate, and wood; Intermountain lists tile and wood shake; E & H lists cedar shake; Ridge Crest lists BRAVA synthetic. Peak publishes the narrowest range, asphalt and metal only.
• Storm damage: Rebel and Idaho Roofing Contractors both publish storm restoration. For scale, Ada County logged 32 thunderstorm wind events from 2016 through 2025, gusting roughly 58 to 81 mph, against just 6 hail events in those same ten years, per NOAA's storm records.

Run these in order before you sign anything.

• 1. Look up the registration yourself. Idaho DOPL runs a public registration search under Online Services, now at edopl.idaho.gov. It is cookie-gated, so it is a manual lookup with no shareable link per license; questions go to (208) 334-3233. Registration is required for any construction job over $2,000 in materials and labor unless exempt, at $120 initial and $120 biennial renewal as of July 1, 2026.
• 2. Ask for both insurance certificates. DOPL requires general liability of not less than $300,000 single limit, covering products and continued operations, plus a workers' compensation certificate or a written statement explaining why coverage is not required.
• 3. Do the per-square math. A square is 100 square feet of roof. Idaho Roofing Contractors' 2026 guide puts labor at roughly $150 to $250 per square and architectural shingles at roughly $400 to $750 per square installed, plus roughly $1,000 to $2,000 to tear off a second layer and $80 to $120 per sheet of new decking. It calls 20 to 40 squares typical for a Boise-area house.
• 4. Get three bids on identical scope. Same shingle line, same tear-off layers, same decking allowance, same warranty. Different scopes are not comparable prices.
• 5. Make the contractor pull the permit. The City of Boise lists re-roofing an existing structure as work requiring a building permit, handled through the city's online permitting system; general contact is (208) 608-7000. Unincorporated Ada County also treats roofing as permit work through county development services.

Everything below is a published estimate. We did not run an independent market survey of the Boise roofing trade, so treat these as starting ranges and let your bids set the number you pay.

Architectural asphalt replacement lands at roughly $10,000 to $20,000 for most homes, with metal or standing seam at roughly $18,000 to $30,000, according to Idaho Roofing Contractors' 2026 Boise guide. A second page from the same company is looser: asphalt at $8,000 to $20,000 overall, most commonly $10,000 to $15,000, and standing seam at $18,000 to $35,000.

Other sources land inside and above that band. Asphalt works out to $6.31 per square foot ($631 per square) in InstantRoofer's Idaho data set, updated August 10, 2026, which pegs a Boise average total of $12,680 on an average Idaho roof of 2,010 square feet and metal at $13.84 per square foot. Go higher and you find R2F Construction, whose February 2026 Boise page quotes a 2,000-square-foot home at $15,500 to $22,000 for architectural shingles and $26,000 to $34,000 for standing seam. Metal costs roughly 60 to 70 percent more upfront by R2F's math, and lasts 40 to 50-plus years against 25 to 30 for asphalt.

Then add the permit, which R2F estimates at $150 to $300 for Boise depending on home value. Emerald Roofing Group's 2026 guide comes in lower across the two counties, at $75 to $250 for Ada and Canyon.
